How to…Keep your Cool

It’s hotting up outside which means you’re more likely to get flustered faster when you’re out and about.

Whether it’s stress at work, home, or you’re just plain boiling running around doing errands on time, you’re going to need all the help you can get from your outfit choice.

Here are some tips to help you keep cool:

Step into the Light! Skip dark colours and opt for white or light-coloured neutrals. They'll absorb less heat. Pastel blues, mint greens and dusty pinks are in style and perfect for keeping cool.

Stay Dry! If sweating is a problem, avoid solid silks or heavy linens. This will avoid any unsightly stains.

A whole lot of holes! Take advantage of open-weave fabrics like mesh or lace. The looser weaves have built-in ventilation - and are bang on trend!

The sun has got his hat on! A wide-brimmed floppy hat keeps you shaded, makes you look super chic, and helps protect your skin from harmful UV rays all at once.

Read the label! Always go for natural fabrics like cotton. There are synthetic, high-tech materials on the market, but it's hard to improve on cotton, which actually keeps moisture from your skin.

Lighten your load! Trade that huge handbag for a smaller, lighter bag.

Chill out!  Choose relaxed silhouettes like gauze sundresses, filmy camisoles or breezy skirts. Avoid too-tight anything: it's unbearable in the heat.

Remember these tips when you're next out shopping and enjoy a cool and relaxed summer.
